About the Network
There are more than 704,966 physicians and health care professionals and 5,100 hospitals in our network. That’s seven out of 10 doctors and nine out of 10 hospitals nationwide. That means it’s easier to find a doctor or facility that meets your needs. It also means you spend less of your own money when you use a network doctor.

Using non-network doctors and facilities
If your benefit plan covers non-network care, you can get care outside the UnitedHealthcare network without a referral. Just keep in mind that your out-of-pocket costs may be higher.
Your benefit plan pays only part of non-network charges. You pay the rest. The amount you have to pay could be significant and may not apply to your deductible or your out-of-pocket maximum. It's important that you review and understand your financial responsibility if you choose to go outside the network
